A New Knitting Book

On Monday, I received an unexpected package in the mail. We have been expecting some packages, though. My husband has ordered several books with my Amazon account, so I though that it might be on of those 3. Also, I ordered some yarn from Elann. However, it was none of these. It was Sweater 101 from the author, Cheryl Brunette. Last Thursday, she said that she would send me a copy, if I would like it, to take to the knitting retreat that I am going to in February. The first thing I noticed was the extra time she took to personalize the cover page with her signature. I really liked that special touch. I started thumbing through it, and it’s wonderful! I plan to read more, as I can always use help on fit. Thanks, Cheryl!

A New Year of Knitting

While waiting for the sale at my local yarn store (1/1) I started knitting myself another sweater. This is 74-3 from Drops. The yarn is Lion Brand Wool-Ease, which I already had in my stash. I have the back and fronts done and am ready to start the sleeves. However, I do want to get Dad's Christmas present finished first. On Tuesday, I cast on for a pair of socks for him and now have the first one almost ready to start working ribbing for the cuff! I am using sport weight yarn with 3mm needles and one of the sock architectures from Cat Bordi's book, New Pathways for Sock Knitters Book1. I'm having so much fun playing with new ways of knitting socks and am really loving her patterns and the different ways that she incorporates the gusset decreases or increases. She also makes it so much easier for me to find and knit to the correct gauge but letting me start with something close, measure and adjust. Its wonderful!!

A Package!!

I left work early, today, as my shoulder is causing me quite a bit of pain...I'm not quite sure what I may have done to injure it, but it sure hurt! (Yesterday, I was home from work and could not even knit most of the day because of the pain...) When I arrived home, there was a medium sized box waiting!! I knew I hadn't ordered anything, so I was hoping it was from my Secret Pal. IT WAS!! My dh brought the box in & set it on the counter where I could open it. She enclosed 3 skeins of yarn, 2 kinds of dried fruit, some blueberry tea (mmm), cat food (which I'm sure one of my kitties will love!), a scrapbook, and a sock knitting book that I've been wanting for a while, now. Wow, what a great package. I can hardly wait for my shoulder to heal so that I can start another new project!! My biggest problem will be deciding what to knit. Do I start some socks with a yarn from my stash, or do I use the new yarn and look for a new pattern? As it will take the shoulder a week to heal, I do have time to decide.
