During the past week, I’ve been knitting away on my
Gwendolyn shawl. By Saturday afternoon,
I had finished about 1/3 of it! I am hoping to finish by the end of the month.
I am getting the “hang” of the pattern and am having less difficulty keeping
track of where I am in the pattern. I doubt I’ll be able to memorize it like I
usually do, due to the somewhat irregular increases. The Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-1720677923617275842013-09-03T09:00:00.000-07:002013-09-03T14:57:46.451-07:00New Lace Project
This past Saturday, I was sitting and knitting with a friend at Starbucks. She had found many skeins of Handmaiden Sea Silk at a second hand store for about $4 per ball. Having these, she and I were looking at patterns on Ravelry. The more I helped her search for the perfect pattern, the more I wanted to cast on with her! I have plenty to work on already, but what does that matterDaniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-25126109433019689712012-08-30T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-30T13:41:42.895-07:00Knitting Pattern ProblemsBefore I started the Pan-Am Jacket, I read through the directions. There seemed to be something off or just plain missing near the end, but I thought that this must be one of the few times when I just need trust the pattern and do it to understand. Now that I am near the end, I realize that there is indeed a piece of the pattern missing! I have tried to find errata on the Interweave websiteDaniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-27555329707725953812012-08-28T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-28T10:00:06.397-07:00Two Finished Projects in Two Days!
While waiting for my KAL buddy, K, to finish knitting her hood on Saturday, I finished binding off my Helen's Grace shawlette. I started to bind off on Friday, but ran out of yarn halfway through. That was frustrating, but I ripped back one row and re-started the bind off. Finishing was a relief. I soaked it and then pinned it out on the floor that same evening. By Sunday morning it was dry Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-75582880960209992582012-08-21T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-21T10:00:01.642-07:00KAL Continues and Other UpdatesLast Saturday, K and I had a wonderful time knitting on our KAL sweaters, the Cassidy cardigan. We had finished all three bodice pieces and both sleeves. During this past week, both of us blocked our pieces in preparation for Saturday morning. Upon meeting, we began to sew the shoulder seams, using mattress stitch. The both look great! Next, we picked up many stitches to begin the Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-57569497487428578732012-08-17T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-17T12:04:00.031-07:00Hot weather = More knitting! Here in the Seattle area, we're finally receiving some hot (for us) weather. As a result, I have not felt like doing much. Instead of the many other projects that have kept me busy in the past, I am now feeling the "bite of the knitting bug." However, the heat also makes me feel like I have a license to start new projects as my works in progress are all heavy wool sweaters. Sitting in the Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-76060417763387041722012-08-14T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-14T10:00:00.518-07:00Knitting UpdatesI've had good progress on my current sock project this week. On Saturday, I finished the first sock and the toe of the second. By Monday afternoon, I had finished the heel turn on the second sock. All is going well and I expect to have a finished pair by Saturday.
Next up: returning to the Cassidy cardigan. The two of us doing our mini KAL agreed to have the Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-55879455291058552032012-08-07T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-10T10:29:58.212-07:00Socks!
toe of sock, second try
Rather than finishing a project, like I told myself that I would, I have been working on a new pair of socks. My husband wanted to go to the movies last Saturday night. When I go to a movie, I like a small, mostly stockinette project to work. I didn't have anything matching this description on my needles already, so I pulled out the only yarn that was Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-85717055587611072882012-08-02T15:00:00.000-07:002012-08-02T15:00:00.325-07:00OrganizingI haven't been cross stitching much this past week as I have been reorganizing my scrapbook supplies. I recently purchased a Scraprack and have been making alterations to my organization so that I can incorporate this new way of storing everything. Yesterday afternoon, I was making some slight changes to the themes that I have used to sort and store my stickers and die-cuts. I have Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-28844952707307083802012-07-31T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-02T13:26:21.618-07:00Many, many projectsI have not been accomplishing much lately on any one project: knitting, cross stitching, sewing, cooking, etc. Instead, I have been dabbling in everything. I have been spending some time in the garden and working on about four different knitting projects in addition to reorganizing closets and cabinets in our house to eliminate clutter and make things easiser to find.

My shoulder hurts a little less, though, so I think this returning desire to stitch may be healthy for me!
Most Saturdays, a group of friends meet at a Starbucks for knitting. There is a core group of three of us, but many times one of four other knitters join us. Most weekends, someone stops to talk to us Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-36193306389846008872012-07-12T10:00:00.000-07:002012-07-16T13:57:03.374-07:00Finished Project
A few days ago, I finished the counted cross stitch project that I last showed with only one color finished. I am still not sure where to hang it or possibly who will receive it as a gift. For now it will go into my stash of wall hangings. :)Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-83082433459852764432012-07-07T09:00:00.000-07:002012-07-07T22:18:04.052-07:00Paleo DietLooking to eat more whole foods and regulate my insulin and blood sugar levels, I am working on "going Paleo." I have a friend who has done this successfully who loves this way of eating. As always, incorporating lots of seasonal veggies is always heathier than processed foods, so I expect this to help my overall health.
In the past I have enjoyed throwing a "dinner party" where friends Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-44058284409821415302012-07-05T09:00:00.000-07:002012-07-06T12:27:51.727-07:00Cross Stitch!
Last Sunday afternoon, my mom was giving away some needlework kits that she has been saving. One SIL was taking some of the stuff to sell. There was one, small, counted cross stitch kit that I commented on how much I liked it, so Mom did not offer it up to sell. Later that evening, I was tired of knitting on my jacket and asked if I could start the kit. She prefers crewel Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-32255136664416188402012-07-03T10:27:00.000-07:002012-07-03T12:02:01.533-07:00I'm Back.
The afghan has been finished for almost 2 years, now, and can be seen here. I've also finished many, many other projects in my hiatus from this blog.
Currently I am in the Knitting Daily KAL, working on the Pan-Am Jacket. I am using Elann's Peruvian Highland Wool. Like so many others in the KAL, I found the start was difficult, at best. I ended up just adding 2 extra Daniellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16720650801411366852noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-22004525524317288932010-02-01T06:44:00.000-08:002010-02-01T07:48:01.613-08:00Newest Aran Afghan SquaresLast Tuesday evening was the latest class for me Taste of Aran Afghan. Usually, I have found that one of the two blocks we work on flies by, while the other drags on. Happily, it is not the case this time! Both blocks seem to almost knit themselves. I finished the first, Star Stitch, Thursday morning. You can see a poor photograph of its beauty above. However, I am now back to posting. To see what I have been knitting in the past month, feel free to click the link on the left to view my Ravelry projects, as I have finished many, many projects, lately. Most recently, I am working on a baby blanket for a coworker. I finished the first block, Wednesday. This is The Palms and I loved knitting it! It just flew by so fast that I almost wanted to knit another! :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-49005522311598642262009-11-25T07:20:00.000-08:002009-11-25T07:20:00.500-08:00Christmas Toy DesignA couple of months ago, I asked my sister what I could give her son for his birthday. He was the one that received the horned toad lizard. At that time, he told her that Stitch needed a space suit. I laughed and told her that I could do it, but probably not in time for his birthday. This last Sunday, I was home and looking for something new to start. I have plenty on the needles, but wanted Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35983467.post-92119080700571861572009-11-20T07:28:00.000-08:002009-11-20T13:32:22.519-08:00Another Present FinishedI finished another Christmas present this morning...These are the Tantilizing socks from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters book. They knit up quickly, maintaining my interest long enough to finish them! They are a men's size 7, knit on 2.5mm needles and using Colinette Jitterbug. I used nearly the whole skein!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3
