I finished the Rainy Day Socks, yesterday!! They are probably the best fitting sock that I've ever knit for myself. Oftentimes, I am in a little too big of a hurry to get the project finished and so I don't rip it back, like I should, when they turn out a little to long or short. This time, I did! It took 3 time of knitting the toe on the first sock to get it right, but I am so glad that I went to the extra work. The yarn is a sport or maybe even a dk weight, so the knitting on these went very quickly. They'll be great for wearing around the house on cool days or evenings. My feet always seem to be a little cold, so finding a good time to wear them should not be a problem!

My next project in line to be started was the June Sockamania pattern, River Valley Socks. I took the yarn and pattern with me over to my parents' house, yesterday, in hopes that I would finish the ones above. Since I did finish, I cast on for these. I'm knitting the toe up version, but used the Magic Cast On from Knitty. It worked well, especially because I did not have the waste yarn with me that would be required to do the crochet cast on called for by the pattern. I like the way that it is turning out and am excited to see how the pattern will begin to zigzag. So far the lace "holes" seem to run straight up the foot, whereas the pattern picture shows a zigzag or scalloped pattern to them. (I've only knit one pattern repeat, so far, and I can see it starting a little, but expect that it will show up even better

Blissful Saturday Morning

When I woke up this morning, I decided that I'd like to do some more sewing for myself. However, going into my sewing room (an extra bedroom that I share with my husband for all our hobbies) I found a mess! I had scrapbooking, stitch marker stuff and balls of yarn/started projects covering my desk and the ironing board! I really do want to sew today, so I worked for about an hour to clean everything up. It looks much better, now, see? Just as I was finishing, I received a call from my mom, wanting to know when I'd like to meet her to go work out. We decided to meet only about 15 minutes later. I rushed to get my clothes changed. After our workout, we went for coffee. By the time I arrived home it was 11 AM!

I sat down at the computer to catch up on email, etc. I was only there for 10 minutes when the doorbell rang. It was the postal carrier, with a birthday package from Kathleen! She sent everything I need to start another pair of socks! The color of the yarn is perfect and the book is one that I've had on my wish list for a while! She even sent a set of size 2 needles, of which I only one 1 set and could always use another!!

In knitting news, I finished the first Rainy Day Sock and about 1/4 of the second one last night. It fits great and the yarn is so soft on the feet! (Thanks SP10 Pal!!)

Rainy Day Sock, 1/2 Done!!

Here is the current progress on the Rainy Day Sock. I've finished turning the heel and am speeding on to finishing the first sock! Since the yarn is sport weight, I am only knitting on 48 stitches. This makes the knitting go quite quickly. I hope to finish the first sock at my inlaws, tonight. If I can finish the pair, then I will be able to start the June Sockamania Sock. I really liked Dipsy's suggestion to buy another set of needles!! I may do that, too. I have about 3 sets of size 1 needles, but could use another set in size 2 and a set of size 1.5.

New Socks on the Needles

I cast on a new sock pattern, last night. I needed a more complicated project to break up the endless stockinette stitch on the ITE Tote. I'm using the Mountain Colors, Mountain Goat in color Lady Slipper, which was sent to me by my Secret Pal. The yarn is knitting up beautifully and the socks are knitting up quickly.

I just received my June pattern for the Sockamania Club. Now, I want to cast those on, too, but I cannot as I need the needles that are on the Rainy Day Socks!! LOL...What a dilemna. [Not really, I can handle it! Right?!]
